About Us
Seaplanes of Key West is the only Air Service to Dry Tortugas
National Park.
At
the southernmost tip of the Continental United States lies the island
paradise, Key West, with its own unique charm and laid back lifestyle.
The island is famous for Hemingway, sunset celebrations and much
more. However the end of US 1 is just the beginning. Let Seaplanes
of Key West fly you 70 miles further west of Key West, Florida,
out over the emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico, to America's
most inaccessible National Park - the Dry Tortugas. The Park is
renowned for its marine life, pirate legends and sheer unspoiled
beauty. It is dominated by its central feature, the majestic Fort
Jefferson, the largest 19th century coastal fort. Step back in time
and explore the history that is Fort Jefferson. Sunbathe on a remote
palm tree lined white sand beach or snorkel the living reef in the
warm crystal clear waters.
Our philosophy is simple, “New Aircraft, Old Pilots”
Seaplanes
of Key West operates Cessna amphibious aircraft. We make regular
runway takeoff and landings at Key West Int’l Airport, and
smooth water landing and takeoffs in the harbor at Dry Tortugas.
We operate 2 size aircraft; the Cessna 206 which can carry up to
5 passengers plus the pilot, and the Cessna 208 Caravan, the ultimate
seaplane. The Caravan is powered by a Pratt & Whitney turbo-prop
engine. It carries 9 passengers plus the pilot in air conditioned
luxury.
All
of our pilots are high time bush pilots; most have Alaskan experience,
averaging over 8,000 hours of seaplane time. One of our pilots has
logged over 10,000 flights to the Dry Tortugas (He knows the way!).
We have our own hangar facility at Key West Int’l Airport
and are a licensed Cessna repair station. We do all of our maintenance
in house, our team of trained mechanics work diligently through
the night, every night. Your safety is our first priority; we have
a 100% safety record.
We operate 364 days a year (Closed Christmas Day).
Reservations are required.
